Even if there is less than 1% 'bad cop' in the world, there are enough cops overall for there to be many thousands of bad cops.

There are always enough assholes to go around.

It does look a bit like he might have had something in mind, though his friend might have just kept driving when he saw the scene, rather than get sucked into it. Either way, this should serve as a cautionary tale to keep borderline cops in line.

What's 'sad' is that every case this cop was ever involved in will now be up for appeal, assuming those who've defended cases this guy potentially made up get off their butts and look into it. Because now there is bullet-proof video evidence that this cop is a liar, and has probably perjured himself on numerous occasions. Any conviction based on his testimony is basically tits-up unless the poor unfortunate soul plea-bargained because his public defender told him to.

Anyway, it certainly wouldn't be very hard to get a borderline personality case like this nut-job into trouble without doing anything to 'provoke' him, and it's already well established what cops will do when you pull into an empty lot at oh-dark-hundred and sit in your car, or drive around in certain places late at night.

Of course, if you're going to try to sting 'bad' cops, you do need backup. Someone else with another video camera to record from a safe distance. Ideally, you need multiple witnesses who are 'in on it', and ready to testify to your intentions for the night in question.

Probably both of you should have the same audio/video camera set-ups, because you'll both be cruising around late at night in the same area, and there's no predicting which of you will get pulled over, by what kinds of cops.

Having your intentions recorded and witnessed, and documenting and witnessing that your car is absolutely free of damning evidence is also very important, as a bad enough cop will plant evidence, even weapons into your car to 'find'. Having a 'dummy' DVR in plain view while another one records wirelessly might also help, as you can catch the cop vandalizing it (destroying evidence) on tape.

There are cheap (and I mean CHEAP) wireless cameras that broadcast over UHF (or various other frequency ranges) that can be recorded remotely, as well. Even a 'normal' VCR/DVR can be run off 12 volts and an inverter in the trunk, though you might have to either run heavy gauge wires from battery to trunk, or put the inverter under the hood and run AC to the trunk. A couple of web searches for 'wireless color camera microphone' will turn up just the right thing, then a video recorder tuned into that camera in your car and the other car can record all of the fun. The thing to shop for is RANGE, SOUND and SENSITIVITY, as you'll want to make sure you can record from at least around the corner, and see/hear everything relatively clearly. Testing the rig ahead of time and working out the bugs is critical, as any non-trivial home-brewed setup will have some kinks to work out. Get a geek involved.

Oh, and be sure when you post it on the internet that the details (time, place, badge number, etc.) are part of the video in a short title sequence. This video is already getting reposted on 'youtube' in ways that are false, even racist. Make these butt-heads at least edit off the title sequence if they're going to give it a name like 'jew cop'.
