There are bad people in every profession. In my opinion and only based on what you wrote the prosecutor could have dropped the charges. However, you also have to realize how many times witnesses or victims recant their story down the road because they are scared. I cannot count how many times I have arrested someone for Domestic Assault only to have the victim say otherwise later. I go by the physical evidence at the time of the crime and the victim's statement/testimony. How do I or the prosecutor not know that the victim or witness was threatened into changing their story at trial?
