Maybe so, but when has it ever been legal to break laws to inforce laws? Especially when they do sport a badge. That at one time stood for something. They have taken an oath to up hold the law. It is not their job to give a personal oppion, nor to be your judge and jury. In my oppion, it is a gross misconduct to abuse the oath taken and the badge they wear and all it represents. When a police officer breaks laws to inforce them. Who is the real criminal? And the last time I checked, we dont live in a policed country. As far as being better than the law, its hard not to think that way, especially when a police officer is supose to be our model a cut above the rest of us. Our example, trustworthy, rightous. For example, an officer would never use this kind of language on the internet. Which brings me back to, no respect is deserving, when you break laws to inforce them. Your no better than the criminal in fact your nothing but a criminal yourself hiding behind a badge. You'll get no respect here.
